Is Chelsea Football Club beyond repair? The Blues find themselves in a loop of humiliating defeats despite making several high profile signings and appointing a new manager. Newly appointed Enzo Maresca was unable to save his side from an embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Celtic in a friendly game ahead of the Premier League title race.
While fans were convinced that the club will finally start ‘winning’ with Maresca taking charge, the defeat put things back to square one. Despite Chelsea being clear favorites on paper, Celtic were in control from the very start. The first goal of the game came in the 19th minute through Matt O’Riley who passed the ball into the corner.
Kyogo Furuhashi then tapped the ball into an empty net to claim Celtic‘s second of the game. Luis Palma added the third even though his goal did not come until the 76th minute of the game. Chelsea played themselves into trouble as Palma dropped his marker before sending Robert Sanchez the wrong way.
Celtic’s final goal of the game came in the 79th minute after which Chelsea claimed their only goal of the game through Christopher Nkunku from the penalty spot.

Rival fans are constantly on the watch out for Chelsea to slip up. After letting go of Mauricio Pochettino at the end of last season, new boss Enzo Maresca has failed to impress. A fan commented that the club went from bad to worse with the appointment of Maresca. Another added that Maresca will bring Chelsea to where they belong – the championship.
A fan joked that the club are destined to finish in tenth place next season with their performances as of late. A few even gave up hope, claiming that the Blues were beyond saving. A few supporters couldn’t believe that their day was spoilt even before the start of the actual season.
Things had gotten so bad that a fan felt that Chelsea games were painful to watch. A hopeful supporter prayed that amidst all the ruckus at the club, things somehow miraculously got better.
Their next game of the pre-season is against Mexican team Club America. Chelsea also have games lined up against Real Madrid and Inter Milan, even though fans felt that it was best to not think about the imminent disaster.
