Chelsea players celebrate their 2-0 victory over Sheffield
Chelsea came out 2-0 winners against Sheffield United in the quarter finals of the FA Cup. Oliver Norwood’s own goal and a late Hakim Ziyech strike were enough for the Blues to book their places in the semi-finals of England’s most esteemed cup competiton.
The victory at Stamford Bridge extended Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel’s unbeaten start in London with the German winning 10 matches and drawing four in all competitions since replacing Frank Lampard in January. However, Thomas Tuchel who has a reputation of being a hard task master wasn’t pleased with Chelsea’s second half performance.

Sheffield had lots of chances to equalize in the second half as Tuchel fielded a 2nd string lineup to combat the tiredness in the squad. David McGoldrick and Rhian Brewster spurned fine chances for the visitors, who paid the full price when Ziyech broke and finished in style.
“It was a good first half but in the second half, we lost control,” Tuchel told BBC Sport. “We were clearly tired after 14 games consecutively, I could feel us tired with a bit of a lack of concentration.
“There were many little faults with a strong opponent in the second half. We were lucky in the second half to keep the clean sheet. I think it is the first time in the 14 matches where we were lucky. It can happen and, in the cup, it is important to go through and this was the target. We reached it.
“Then you have a lot of changes, made from me of course, and you have players leaving right now for international duties, so there is a lot to organise, and many unclear situations.
“It was a moment where we arrived yesterday where I didn’t feel 100 per cent comfortable or sure that we could continue on the same level.
Chelsea have now set a date with Manchester City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup with their victory over Sheffield. Manchester City also won 2-0 against Everton yesterday as they scored twice in the final 10 minutes.
