It was a night to remember for Chelsea Green as she won the women's United States Championship on this week's SmackDown.

It was a heartbreak for Giulia fans as she dropped her WWE women’s US title in an underwhelming manner on this week’s SmackDown. ‘The Beautiful Madness’ got rolled up by Chelsea Green in under 2 minutes. During the ending moments, Giulia’s personal assistant, Kiana James, took a cheap shot at Green. The latter’s Secret Hervice partner, Alba Fyre, downed James with a superkick in retaliation.

Fyre got neutralized by Giulia, who, in turn, got rolled up by Green from behind, thus eating the pinfall and losing her championship belt. ‘The Hot Mess’ is now a two-time WWE Women’s United States Champion, with the Canuck also being its inaugural title holder from last year when she trumped Michin at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

In addition to that, Green has also earned herself the distinction of being called a double champion. For the unversed, she’s already one-half of the AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions alongside Ethan Page, who was there at ringside on SmackDown to celebrate with Green.

Back in August, it was reported by WrestleVotes that those in WWE were hopeful of seeing Green and Page as a duo on SmackDown moving forward. It stemmed from these two displaying instant chemistry in the interactions they had on NXT. Green has been one of the most consistently entertaining aspects of an otherwise lopsided women’s division on the blue brand.

While the fans are elated about WWE putting the US title on her once again, they are equally disappointed by the way Giulia was treated for those 133 days as the champion. She barely defended the title twice in forgettable matches, which did nothing to enhance her credibility on SmackDown.

What else happened on this week’s SmackDown?

This week’s SmackDown in Greenville opened with Cody Rhodes going off on Drew McIntyre by calling him the most self-sabotaging pro wrestler in history. The ex-AEW EVP affirmed that he’s moving on from the Scot and proposed sitting in the crowd for the rest of the night to scout his next challenger for the Undisputed WWE title.

Just as Rhodes stepped out of the ring, he was interrupted by Aleister Black and Zelina. Black affirmed that he’s got a chip on his shoulder, which was as big as the size of the Undisputed WWE title. The former House of Black member said he was looking for something new after putting Damian Priest in his place. Rhodes got slapped by Black’s wife when he tried giving a response.

It followed an announcement from Nick Aldis that Black vs. Rhodes was set for the main event in a non-title match. Their match ended in a DQ when McIntyre, out of nowhere, hit the match referee with a Claymore kick. McIntyre did so to avenge the alleged bias toward him by the same referee during Saturday Night’s Main Event.

McIntyre then joined Black in a 2-on-1 beatdown of Rhodes until Priest evened up the odds and neutralized the heels. At last, GM Aldis had to come out and suspend the ‘Scottish Psychopath’ for his unrestrained code of conduct. Other notable happenings on SmackDown included Ilja Dragunov continuing his United States title open challenge.

In response, Tommaso Ciampa came out just like last week and was accompanied by Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae. ‘The Mad Dragon’ decided to hand the opportunity to Gargano, and they put on a stellar fight. Dragunov had to dig deep to finally put ‘The Rebel Heart’ away. The show also witnessed the official SmackDown debut of Lash Legend, who assisted Nia Jax in her match against Charlotte Flair.

Legend attacked Flair’s tag team partner, Alexa Bliss, at ringside. That allowed Jax to get the win over the 14-time women’s champion. Flair and Bliss didn’t catch a break even backstage while being attended by WWE’s medical staff. It was so because Asuka and Kairi Sane had disguised themselves as nurses. ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ blindsided the women’s tag team champs with the poison mist.

Rey Fenix got manhandled by Talla Tonga in a match that got set up after Fenix slapped Tonga in a backstage segment last week. Despite getting the win over the former AEW star, Tonga tried to inflict more damage on him. However, a less-than-100% fit Sami Zayn arrived to Fenix’s aid, forcing Solo Sikoa and his MFT to flee from the crime scene.
