Chelsea Football Club are in no mood to change up their policy in the transfer market. Todd Boehly‘s Blues have been up to their usual tricks in the summer transfer window, and have finalized the signing of yet another star in Joao Felix.

The Atletico Madrid man spent last season on loan at FC Barcelona and also made 16 appearances for the Blues in 2023 while on loan. As Felix’s ‘return’ to Chelsea was made official, Premier League legend and former Liverpool man Jamie Carragher did not hold back against the Blues.

Just stop buying players. Players have got to stop signing for Chelsea. Sign a four-year deal at a proper club. There isn't anything there (at Chelsea).
Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports

The 46-year-old insisted that Chelsea have no plan whatsoever and that it is impossible to inculcate healthy competition in the squad with so many players. Carragher laughed at how Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku all have to wonder where they’ll play under Enzo Maresca in the 2024/25 campaign.

Despite all their new signings, Maresca did not feature any of their new summer signings in their 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Chelsea finalize Joao Felix move in permanent deal to Stamford Bridge

Following a loan spell at FC Barcelona with mixed reviews, Portuguese forward Joao Felix has returned to Chelsea permanently. The player was picked up by Chelsea on a whopping seven -year deal that keeps him at the club till 2030. The player’s move to the Premier League also paves the way for the completion on Conor Gallagher‘s move to Atletico Madrid, which was hanging in uncertainty over the past week.

Carragher even claimed that Felix will find it difficult to ‘change’ in the training ground, let alone find a space to play. It is understood that Todd Boehly’s club are set to pay Atletico more than £46 million for the 24-year-old and pay him close to £300,000 a week for his services.

Chelsea boss Maresca has a mammoth task at hand to find a winning formula from a squad that has enough players to field four separate starting XIs. Even though several players may leave on loan and be let go from the club, fans are excited to see how the Blues will manage their enormous squad as the season progresses. They face Wolves in their next Premier League game on the 25th of August.
