Chelsea Football Club were at their very best at they demolished Wolves by six goals to two. Enzo Maresca‘s men started the game with a goal just 98 seconds from kick-off, making it their earliest since 2017. Scored by Nicolas Jackson, the Senegalese forward had ‘every’ right to respond to his critics. The striker has come under censure for his lack of goals and wasted chances inside the box.
The argument started when former Chelsea man John Obi Mikel criticized Jackson for being wasteful against Manchester City for their Premier League opener. However, with a goal and assist against Wolves, Jackson had the ‘upper hand’ in the argument.
On the back of his impressive performance, Jackson told Mikel to shut his mouth and to not talk s***. In response to the same, Mikel chose to defend himself, claiming that he’ll shut up on one condition.
I haven't said he's a bad player at all. His finishing quality isn't there yet. If he scores every week and tells me to shut up, I'll take that.John Obi Mikel responded (via talkSPORT)
As things stand, Jackson is still not considered to be the man to lead Chelsea’s attack, given the fact that his club are still in the market for a number 9.
Chelsea keen to bring Ivan Toney from Brentford amidst Saudi interest
Despite all the big-money signings made by the club in the transfer window, Chelsea are still in the market for a striker. From Victor Osimhen to Samu Omorodion, several names have been linked with Todd Boehly‘s club. However, as Nicolas Jackson struggles to cement his place in Enzo Maresca‘s squad, a new name has come into the mix for the Blues’ No.9 spot.

Ivan Toney has been nothing short of brilliant in terms of banging in goals for his side. Despite his suspension and subsequent absence from the scene, the Englishman seems to have picked up right from where he left off in May 2023. With less than a year left on his current contract with the Bees, Toney has attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Even though Chelsea are planning to make a late swoop for the player, it has to be noted that the 28-year-old has a lucrative offer from Al-Ahli. Even though the Blues may not be able to match the salary offered by the SPL club, he can play Premier League football and stand a chance to remain in West London. Al-Ahli also employ former Premier League stars Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino and Edouard Mendy.
