Tokyo Olympics: Chen Yufei vs He Bingjiao Prediction, preview and live stream

In the all-Chinese clash, He Bingjiao and Chen Yufei are scheduled to face each other in the Women’s Singles Badminton semi-final in the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday, July 31. The game is set to take place at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza. While Bingjiao is ranked ninth in the BWF World Rankings, Yufei is the second-ranked shuttler.

Yufei is yet to drop a set in the single’s event and it shows how dominating she has been. She came into the quarter-final match against South Korea’s An Se-young on the back of two compressive wins. Yufei had got past Egypt’s Doha Hany and Turkey’s Neslihan Yiğit with relative ease.

However, Se-young made her sweat in the quarter-final, though the Chinese shuttler won in straight sets. In the first set, Yufei got over the line by 21-18. The second set was tougher for her, but in the end, she won it 21-19. Going into the next game, Yufei will be looking to up her game a wee bit.

Bingjiao, meanwhile, had it fairly easy in her first two games, thrashing Maldives’ Fathimah Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq and Iran’s Soraya Aghaeihajiagha. She rode her luck in the Round of 16 match after USA’s Beiwen Zhang had to retire in the middle of the second set after winning the first.

In the quarter-final, Bingjiao felt the heat after Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara beat her by 13-21 in the first set. However, the former didn’t lose her cool and came back with a bag. In the final two sets, the 24-year-old put forth her A-game and won by 21-13, 21-14 to make her way to the semi-final.

In their last three meetings, Yufei won two times. In their previous meeting in the World Tour Finals in December 2019, Yufei won comfortably by 21-9, 21-8.

Chen Yufei seems to be on a rampage in the Tokyo Olympics and beating her won’t be a cakewalk. She should be able to get past her opponent.
