Chen Yufei vs Tai Tzu-ying
Taiwan’s Tai Tzu-ying is set to lock horns with China’s Chen Yufei in the Women’s Singles Badminton final match in the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday, August 1. The match will be held at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza BDM Court 1. While Yufei is placed second in the BWF World Rankings, Tzu-ying is the top-ranked shuttler.

Tai Tzu-ying is the World No.1 and she played like one in her quarter-final match against India’s PV Sindhu on Saturday, July 31. In the first set, Sindhu kept her on her toes for most of the time. However, after loads of twists and turns, she won the opening set 21-18.
In the second, she didn’t let Sindhu get a foothold back into the contest. Tai Tzu-ying took the lead from the outset and kept her opponent under pressure. She nailed the overhead smashes with utmost ease and will now be looking to replicate something similar even in the final.
Yufei, on the other hand, had to hustle a wee bit in her semi-final match against Bingjiao He. The 23-year-old shuttler walked her way through to a 21-16 win in the first set. In the second set, Bingjiao hit back with equal force. She won the set 13-21 with relative ease.
In the third set, Yufei came back to win by 21-12 and also qualified for the final. Going ahead, she can’t afford to let her guard down since Tzu-ying has looked in ominous touch. All in all, a cracker of a contest between the two shuttlers can be expected on Sunday.

In their last 13 meetings, Tzu-ying has dominated Yufei, winning 10 matches. In their last meeting in the final of the All England Open, Tzu-ying won by 21-19, 21-15.
