The Oklahoma City Thunder’s 2024–25 season has begun with a slew of injuries. Therefore, it is not shocking to see Chet Holmgren “traumatized” by what may have been another squad injury. During OKC’s game against the Lakers, Isaiah Hartenstein was the victim of this regrettable occurrence. This led to Holmgren taking to his socials to put forward his views on the incident.

In the last seconds of the first quarter, Hartenstein flew into the air to stop Dalton Knecht from making a messy poster slam. He registered the huge rejection, but he did so by risking his life and falling on his back. Hartenstein’s teammate Holmgren also did the same in a game against the Warriors, which led to his injury.

Holmgren, who ironically is also injured, took to his “X” account right away. His straightforward response demonstrated his level of concern. The image he shared is a meme, which is frequently used to convey shock, anxiety, or trauma. All three of these feelings are appropriate given what happened with Hartenstein.

The center would go to the locker room, then come back to the bench. Fortunately for the Thunder, he returned to the game in addition to being on the bench. During his putback dunk after a Thunder player missed, the former New York Knicks star demonstrated that he had fully recovered.

Aside from this, significant players in the Thunder’s frontcourt have suffered a string of injuries. Holmgren had a hip fracture during a DPOY-level season. Due to a hamstring strain, Jaylen Williams has been out for a while and will be evaluated again in four to six weeks.

Chet Holmgren issues ‘strong’ message in a bid to return to the court

As Chet Holmgren seems to be battling his injuries in a bid to recover soon and return to the court, he took to X to showcase his positive approach towards his injury. Holmgren has been one of the most important players for the OKC Thunder side alongside Shai-Gilgeous Alexander. Despite his absence, the Thunder have handled their defense quite well.

Chet Holmgren wrote on X, “Excuses only exist when you choose to use them…” This showcases the commitment and mentality that the OKC youngster harnesses. There has not been a set return timeline for Chet but he has continued to ‘progress well’ off the court.

Before the injury, Holmgren was playing in nine games while fully healthy, averaging 18.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2.9 blocks. He shot 51.9 percent shooting from the field and 40.0 percent shooting from beyond the arc. This span saw the Thunder go an incredible 8-1. It remains to be seen when the injured star returns to the court for the OKC Thunder this season.
