It was a sad night for the Oklahoma City Thunder as the team faced a tough setback on Sunday when their talented center, Chet Holmgren, suffered a right iliac hip fracture during their game against the Golden State Warriors. The loss of Holmgren, a key two-way player, is no doubt a significant blow for the team, especially given his strong start to the season.
However, despite the disappointing news, Chet Holmgren maintained a positive outlook. He shared a light-hearted post on X, where he joked about how Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins still managed to score.
I can’t believe this mf still made the lay wtf I’m pissed.

Interestingly, his upbeat message helped reassure fans and emphasized his determination to stay positive throughout the recovery process. Holmgren’s resilience is notable, as this isn’t his first time he has faced a serious injury.
Can’t tell if I feel better or worse about this having been through something similar before. On one hand I know how to approach it, I know what to do, what not to do and how beautiful the other side is.

This happened after he was drafted second overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2022 NBA draft. He would go on to miss his entire rookie season due to a fractured foot. Although his current injury isn’t as severe, it’s still a tough setback for both Holmgren and the Thunder.
Chet Holmgren out for months with hip injury
Despite Oklahoma City’s impressive 8-2 start, the team’s early success is clouded by a series of injuries to key players, especially those slated to log minutes at center. The Thunder entered the season with Isaiah Hartenstein already sidelined, and now face the absence of Chet Holmgren, who sustained a right iliac wing fracture.
His recovery is expected to take at least two months, meaning an update on his return likely won’t come until January, leaving a noticeable gap in OKC’s roster as they navigate the coming months.

Despite the setback, Holmgren remains optimistic, aiming for a return in time to help the Thunder push for a strong playoff run. With the potential to rejoin in early 2025, he would still have time to regain form before the postseason.
Before his injury, Holmgren was averaging 18.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2.9 blocks per game. There’s no doubt that he and his ‘dog’ mentality would be missed by the fans.
