The Oklahoma City Thunder sensation Chet Holmgren may well and truly receive a lot of boos from the Miami Heat fans after his recent take on them. Notably, Holmgren opened up on the “Road Trippin” podcast regarding the Miami Heat fans, claiming the Kaseya Center is “empty” and that is why he “likes Miami.”
Holmgren, who lost to Victor Wembanyama in the Rookie of the Year voting the previous season, seemed to be subtly mocking the Heat fan base. In addition, Holmgren is known for his quiet nature in the NBA but will never shy away from putting his opinions forward regarding any particular topic, with the dig at the Heat fans his most recent take.
I like Miami, Because it’s just, like, empty. On the Road Trippin podcast, Chet Holmgren said
This sent out a burst of laughter on the podcast.
We know what you mean. They come in late.Co-host Channing Frye added
Holmgren then summarized.
So really as the away team, you just gotta build that lead in the first three quarters, and then it just stays quiet for the fourth.Chet Holmgren added
On the contrary, the OKC Thunder performed extremely well led by their rookie sensations Holmgren and Shai-Gilgeous Alexander. In addition, the Thunder exceeded expectations in the WCF in this past 2023-24 NBA season, qualifying for the NBA Playoffs. Despite being knocked out by the Dallas Mavericks during the NBA Playoffs, the Thunder will be proud of their season and will be looking forward to building on it.
Jimmy Butler makes one request towards the Heat fans
For the entirety of his career, Jimmy Butler has not shied away from speaking his mind, and his tenure with the Miami Heat has been no different. Interestingly, in an interview with Complex Sports, Butler made one request to the Heat fans, and that was coming to their game early, instead of showing up late which Butler hates.
What’s been the worst part, to me? Our fans never show up on time. They never show up on time. And I’m just like ‘damn, I want it to be rocking from like, the jump ball.’ Fans, come on!Jimmy Butler told Complex Sports
In addition, Butler has generally had nothing but great things to say about his time as a Heat player. He has become a beloved member of the team and has led them to multiple postseason appearances, including an unanticipated trip to the NBA Finals in 2023. However, it now remains to be seen whether the Heat fans obey Butler’s request or continue to be late for their side’s matches in the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season.
