Back from his injury hell, Lonzo Ball stirred up controversy as he expressed his opinion that some players outside the league are better than current NBA talent. He attributed this to various factors, ranging from team preferences for young players with potential over veteran talent.

Lonzo Ball made this known when he spoke on the WAE Show and may have ignited the debate about NBA players against players from other leagues. He even went further to cite names and reasons to back his argument up.

There’s players in the NBA that are not as good as some players that are not in the NBA. And I think a lot of people in the NBA would testify to that. There’s a lot of things that go on other than just the player… I don’t necessarily think that the 450 people, or however many there is in the league, are the very best people in the world. I don’t believe that.

While his comments may raise some eyebrows in the NBA, he has his reasons. Recently, with the crop of players getting drafted into the league, fans have come to see that leagues outside the NBA can develop players as well, with the success of Victor Wembanyama and Luka Doncic.

The just-concluded Olympics was another testament to the fact that the gap between Team USA and other countries has begun to close up. As for Ball, he recently marked his return to the court after a three-year absence.

Lonzo Ball shook off the dust as he finally made a remarkable emotional return to the NBA with the Chicago Bulls after a 1,000-day absence. In his first game since January 2022, he scored 10 points, grabbed one rebound, and had one assist in a preseason win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

It’s fair to say that his journey back was nothing but arduous, as he had torn his meniscus in 2021-22. On his return, he spoke with ESPN’s Shams Charania and Malika Andrews.

To be honest, it was just a blessing… That number sounds so crazy, even when I read that I was like ‘man, 1,000 days.’ It actually went by a lot faster than it sounded. The journey has been amazing, it’s been a long one.

When he announced that he got a donor meniscus just to stand the chance to hoop again, it surely gave fans hope. And with the Bulls sticking around and not casting him aside, he plans to repay that faith in him. No wonder he declared himself the best PG in the league.
