On Sunday, Chris Jones was among the several veterans who showed up for their Kansas City Chiefs training camp at St. Joseph in Missouri and reiterated their goal for next season. The Chiefs want to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls and secure a historic three-peat.

Fans seemed jubilant to see the defensive tackle being his cheerful self because this time last year they had their hearts in their mouths because Jones skipped training camp due to contract extensions. He penned a fresh five-year $158 million deal, keeping him until 2029.

It’s a long stretch, and as he is 30, Jones asked head coach Andy Reid for a couple of days of leave from training. Regardless, he joined the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Carson Wentz, and Rashee Rice for the Chiefs’ first joint practice.

At the end of the day, the all-pro tackle spoke with the media and reminded everyone that the Chiefs’ ultimate goal is an unprecedented three-peat.

I think chasing history is all part of it.
Chris Jones said

Even though he is a three-time Super Bowl champion, in Jones’ view, every athlete wants to finish their career on a high note.

When a lot of players retire, they always say that they want to leave the game better than they started. If we can get this three-peat and continue to adding legacy to the Kansas City Chiefs, I think that would be a huge accomplishment, not only for us but for the NFL.
Chris Jones quipped per NFL.com

The Chiefs play three preseason games against the Jaguars, Lions, and Bears, starting on August 11. On September 5, Week 1, they welcome last season’s AFC Championship opponents, the Baltimore Ravens, for a rematch.

PFF ranks Chris Jones in the Top 50 NFL player’s list

Last week, Pro Football Focus dropped their Top 50 NFL players list, which included two Chiefs players in the top 10. The No. 1 player once more was Patrick Mahomes, and the second player at No. 6 was Chris Jones.

PFF’s Sam Manson wrote that even though Jones did not have the best of seasons, lodging 30 tackles and 10.5 sacks, the second-round pick’s heroics in the postseason earned him a spot.

Last season was not the best year for Chris Jones, yet he still posted a 90.4 PFF pass-rushing grade and notched 91 total pressures through the Chiefs' Super Bowl run.

Now that future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald has retired from football, Jones is arguably the best DE in the NFL. If the Chiefs secure the three-peat, then perhaps he would be in the mix for the all-time team.
