Patrick Mahomes can’t seem to shake off the dad-bod jokes. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback arrived at the franchise’s facility on Monday to kickstart the OTAs.

The official Chiefs X (formerly Twitter) account shared a short clip of Mahomes’ arrival. He went with a casual look, donning a grey Adidas t-shirt with shorts, looking sleek and ready to attack the training ground.

His clip went viral in a matter of moments for all the wrong reasons. The first thing that everyone noticed was the slightly bloated gut peering through his upperwear.

Social media remained divided over Patrick Mahomes’ dad bod

Fans look up to athletes as Michelangelo’s sculpture, with perfect muscles and abs. That’s true for football players, and most of them do look like the part except for some.

Not all positions require a toned body or muscles, like Ronnie Coleman. Some are advised to put on weight (the center, tackle), while others don’t need to be highly athletic.

Quarterbacks play football with their minds. Their biggest strength is their ability to throw accurate passes and control the flow of the game.

Patrick Mahomes is a master of both, hence the three Super Bowl rings. However, even he has had to face body shaming.

The social media bravado has reached the 28-year-old’s ears, and he wants to make amends. Before the next season starts, Mahomes plans to get rid of the ‘dad bod’ once and for all. For that, he signed a deal with a brand named Sports Coffee.

His fondness for coffee isn’t new, although he doesn’t add any cream or sugar to alter the natural taste of the drink.

I always do stuff that I believe in, and the sports coffee thing happened really naturally where I love coffee; I drink it a lot, but I don’t like to put sugar in it, [and] I don’t like to put all the added stuff in there, so I want to find a healthier version so I can help my body not have that dad bod.
Patrick Mahomes said during Wednesday’s press conference

The reigning Super Bowl MVP disclosed the flavors that he drools over the most: Mocha Java, Salted Caramel, French Vanilla, and Black Coffee.
