Saturday was a special affair for Justin Reid. The Kansas City Chiefs defensive back spent four seasons learning the ropes of the NFL during his initial years.
He was eager to record a win and keep the Chiefs’ dreams of reclaiming the No. 1 seed alive, but knew it would be a tough gig because the Texans have been on the rise.
The Chiefs defense forced an early interception out of Texans quarterback CJ Stroud and then another one in the second half.
Reid carried out two pressures on Stroud. He further had 5 combined tackles (4 solo and 1 assisted) and 1 tackle for loss. However, the 27-year-old pointed out that he could have had more if the Texans did not hold on to him throughout the day.
After the game ended, Reid shared a photo on Instagram—a Texans player held on to him by his neck. He left a status conveying his message.

Judging by his words, this wasn’t the only holding call on him that the referee missed in the game.
Regardless, the Chiefs went on to win the game 19-27. It improved the reigning Super Bowl champions’ 2024 record to 14-1, and they only need one win in the remaining fixtures against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos to secure a bye week in the playoffs.
Justin Reid and the defense have often bailed the Chiefs out of bad situations this season
The Chiefs’ offense struggled due to injuries despite losing just one game all season. However, this is where a champion team always finds a way to win games. The offense has been full of holes, but the defense shut down teams to take home close wins.
Reid, Chris Jones, Trent McDuffie, and Chamarri Conner lead from the front, bringing defense coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s ideas to life on the Gridiron.
Spagnuolo’s Chiefs are fourth in total defense (giving up an average of 307.2 yards per game), third in run defense (91.4 rushing yards allowed per game), third-fewest rushing touchdowns allowed (11), fourth in points allowed per game (18.5 average) and eighth-best red zone scoring defense (51.1% chances defended).
