The numerous controversial officiating calls in several Kansas City Chiefs games have ignited a wild debate among fans and other teams, leading to accusations that the two-time Super Bowl defending champions are receiving preferential treatment. However, the Chiefs are literally unfazed by the surrounding drama, with owner Clark Hunt even having a good laugh about it.
As his team prepared for their third consecutive Super Bowl game, Hunt spoke to the media in the pre-Super Bowl address, which now has become a tradition. One of the highlighted questions was the conspiracy theories regarding the officiating in the Chiefs game but it was Hunt’s response that spoke volumes.
“There’s definitely no conspiracy, right? It’s the nature of the game. And when you start having a lot of success, people like to start making excuses for why you’re having the success.”

The Chiefs are standing on the verge of making unprecedented history and the biggest credit goes to quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who literally changed the fate of the franchise. While aiming for his fourth Super Bowl ring in seven years, the elite quarterback seems to have made his peace with becoming a ‘villain’ and that sentiment appears to resonate throughout the entire franchise.
Andy Reid stands by officials amid controversy over Chiefs’ playoff victories
Speaking of the conspiracy theory surrounding officiating in the Chiefs’ game, head coach Andy Reid stood by the officials when he was asked about the controversy that intensified after the divisional round playoff victory over the Houston Texans, especially when they also indirectly blamed the referees for favoring the Chiefs.
Additionally, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also echoed the same sentiment about the conspiracy theories as the Chiefs did. While he understood that these theories were fueled by frustrated fans, he ultimately found them to be utterly ridiculous.
