It’s a true saying that ‘the skills you are born with, never leave you disappointed,’ and when Khalen Saunders took the field to face his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs, he displayed his remarkable skills as a running back. He started his football journey as an RB in high school, before transitioning to a defensive career.
Although the Chiefs succeeded with a 26-13 victory, Saunders surprised everyone in the third quarter when he intercepted quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the end zone. As he did, he brought the ball out of the end zone and returned with 37 rushing yards, setting up his New Orleans Saints for a touchdown.
The 324-pound Saunders showed an impressive display of speed and reached a 15.79 miles per hour — the third fastest speed by a ball carrier weighing above 300 pounds. In addition to that, the 37-yard return is the longest interception return by player of that weight in close to two decades.
As the game concluded with Kansas City’s fifth-game winning streak, the players surrounded the Saints defensive back to congratulate and praise him on the impressive interception return. In the post-game ritual of shaking hands with the opposing players to show good sportsmanship, many Chiefs players showered high praise on Saunders and he was seen with a big, proud smile on his face.

After intercepting the elite quarterback, Saunders delivered a powerful tackle on star tight end, Travis Kelce– with whom the defensive back has a different connection. When Kelce began dating pop superstar Taylor Swift, fans revealed a distinct connection with the former Chiefs defensive player.
It turns out, that Khalen’s brother, Kameron Saunders is a backup dancer for the 14-time Grammy winner at her famous Eras Tour. In the Monday Night Football game, both Swift and Kameron were in attendance to cheer for their loved ones. The question was: who would Kameron cheer for?
His brother answered the question during his media interaction before the game, stating that Swift may be his brother’s boss, but Kameron prioritizes the defensive back above all. His team, the Saints have now dropped to a 2-3 season standing and are scheduled to face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 6.
