Chiefs super fan Xaviar Babudar sentenced to 17.5 years in federal prison for robbing multiple banks

The iconic Kansas City Chiefs superfan who gained notoriety for showing up to support the team wearing a wolf costume to the team’s games has been convicted in the robbery of multiple banks and awarded a long prison sentence.

Xaviar Michael Babudar, better known amongst the Kansas City Chiefs fans as ‘Chiefsaholic’, pleaded guilty to robbing multiple banks. He admitted to committing armed robberies in multiple states and from the funds that he stole, financed his trips to attend football games. Babudar has been sentenced to 17.5 years in federal prison.

He admitted to stealing over half a million dollars from banks. The amount is in the ballpark of $800,000. After Babudar was arrested in December 2022, he pleaded not guilty to 19 charges including armed robbery, bank theft, money laundering, and transporting stolen property. He was released on bond with GPS monitoring but fled shortly after he cut off the monitor.

Xaviar Babudar’s attorney sought 10 years imprisonment for the Chiefs superfan

The government attempted to seek a 20-year sentence for Babudar as per KMBC News. In the memorandum filed by Babudar’s attorneys, it has been submitted that he had a severe gambling addiction and numerous personal hardships that drove him to commit the crimes he has been accused of.

Ironically, Babudar’s sentencing came on Thursday morning, the day of the Kansas City Chiefs opening day game against the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium. After he serves the 17.5-year sentence, Xaviar will be subjected to three years under supervised release. In addition to this, he will be obligated to pay $600,000 in restitution.

Xaviar Babudar will be sentenced to the Federal Correctional Institute in Greenville, Illinois, a moderate-security facility near St.Louis in Missouri. His sentencing marks a sad and unfortunate end to the story of a loyal fan who gained a huge fan following on social media for his choice of outfit at the team games.
