Not every hero wears a cape; they also wear the Kansas City Chiefs jersey, and luckily Tershawn Wharton was wearing one on Sunday when they played against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, North Carolina. The defensive tackle was at the right place at the right time to save a kid from suffering serious injuries.
The Chiefs arrived at the Bank of America Stadium on the back of a defeat against the Buffalo Bills in week 11. Patrick Mahomes and Co. had set their sights on returning to winning ways by beating the NFC South stragglers.
Bryce Young had a career performance against one of the league’s best defenses. The Panthers’ second-year quarterback threw 269 yards and 1 touchdown. It took a bit of Mahomes magic in the end and a Spencer Shrader late field goal to finally beat the Carolina team 30-27.
After the final whistle, the players were heading back to the locker room. Tershawn Wharton and Travis Kelce waived toward the fans while approaching the tunnel.
One of the fans, a little boy wearing a Nick Bolton jersey, got a bit too excited to see Wharton and gave the security guard the slip and fell down. Fortunately for the kid, Wharton was on hand to save him before he hit the ground.
I don’t think bro has an account … but shoutouts to Tershawn Wharton for saving the panthers from being sued out the ass. pic.twitter.com/Qlm7RtANtz

Tershawn Wharton may have saved the security guard’s job as well with his heroic deed
A guard was present to keep the little ones away from the railing. In the video, he can be seen pushing away some of the others, but the little guy wearing Bolton’s jersey blindsided him.
Notably, the area from which the kid fell was bare naked without any raised railing. Leaning too much caused him to lose his footing.
If Wharton, or anyone else, for that matter, wasn’t present to catch the kid, then he would have been seriously hurt. Moreover, the guard had to bear the responsibility for the incident because it happened under his supervision. The stadium authorities haven’t issued any statement regarding the incident as of yet. Wharton also remains silent for now.
The 26-year-old edge rusher has 12 solo tackles this season with five assists, 3 sacks, and one forced fumble. He won two Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs after they signed him as an undrafted free agent back in 2020. He tore his ACL in week 5 of 2022 and missed the entire year before making a return in 2023. In 2023, he recorded 21 tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery.
