Brett Veach is famous for being a visionary, but even he could not have foreseen the offseason of horrors for the Kansas City Chiefs. A couple of second-year Chiefs players, Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick, were arrested on marijuana charges in Johnson County.
The Chiefs were already dealing with Harrison Butker‘s controversial views, and now two other players have ended up in jail. Court records revealed that the Johnson County police arrested Morris and Godrick late Thursday night.
Initial investigations disclosed that the pair had marijuana and charged them with a misdemeanor. Both Morris and Godrick appeared before a Johnson County judge through a video conference call on Friday.
The judge announced a penalty of $2,500, which they paid. Following the necessary paperwork, they were released just after 4 p.m. on Friday. However, they will have to appear before the court again on May 23, according to KSHB.com.
Chukwuebuka Godrick became a Kansas City Chiefs player through the International Pathway Program
Since 2017, to expand the reach of the NFL, the league committee has introduced the International Pathway Program. Through this method, football players around the globe can enter the gridiron.

In 2023, Chukwuebuka Godrick became one of the six Nigerians selected to participate in the NFL’s IPP combine. According to American Football International, Godrick was primarily a basketball player who later transitioned to football.

Who is Wanya Morris?
Wanya Morris played as an offensive tackler for the Tennessee Volunteers. As a true freshman, the 25-year-old started 12 of 13 games, earning All-SEC and All-American honors.
Morris then transferred to Oklahoma to play for the Sooners; however, he was mostly used as a backup. It changed during his senior year, in which he played nine games, helping Dillon Gabriel throw for 2,925 yards with 24 touchdowns.

Despite missing out on two games, Morris made it into the All-Big 12. He skipped the Sooners Bowl game to prepare for the draft. The Chiefs selected him in the third round of 92 overall in 2023.
The Chiefs front office has yet to put out any statement suggesting any sort of punishment for Morris and Godrick. The reigning Super Bowl champions already have their hands full.
All-Pro placekicker Harrison Butker has created a ruckus online and offline through his controversial statements regarding religion and gender. Before that, it was the second-year receiver Rashee Rice‘s rash driving that painted the Chiefs in a bad light. And in between head coach Andy Reid‘s son, Britt Reid‘s court hearings, it’s a massive mess.
