The Florida Panthers are on the verge of securing the Stanley Cup, while the Boston Celtics are on their way to win the NBA title. Interestingly, Jayson Tatum of the Celtics and Matthew Tkachuk of the Panthers, arguably the best players on their respective teams, were classmates as freshmen in high school. Now, they are on the cusp of winning two prestigious championships together.

The two 26-year-old future stars began to know one another at Chaminade College Preparatory School, located close to St. Louis, Missouri. The former freshman classmates can create history with their sides this season in their respective sports.

The Celtics and their star man Jayson Tatum just need one win to clinch the NBA title. Meanwhile, the Panthers lead their best-of-seven series 3-0 following their 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday. Florida has the opportunity to win their first-ever NHL championship on Saturday, June 15, in Edmonton.

Jayson Tatum recently expressed his admiration for the Panthers forward. Tatum shared that he has been following Tkachuk’s hockey career closely, even watching his recent game and hoping for his success in the Stanley Cup Finals.

I’m a big Matthew fan. We went to school together. I actually watched him win last night, trying to learn and understand the rules in the game of hockey more and more. I got to watch the game last night. They won. Like I said, I’m extremely happy for him and his family. Hopefully they win it all.
