Chris Broussard doesn’t agree with Josh Allen being ranked outside the top 10 on NFL’s latest list
During the recent episode of First Things First, Broussard presented Josh Allen’s case as a top QB.

Josh Allen is a Top 5 quarterback, and there’s no two ways about it. Yes, Allen makes the occasional mistakes, but he also makes up for and then some with his brilliant plays.
Before the Bills put Allen as the starting quarterback, they played postseason football only once in 19 years. Barring the 28-year-old’s rookie year, the Bills qualified for the playoffs every year since 2019.
Allen led the Bills to the AFC Divisional round and an AFC Championship game in 2019. More importantly, he has yet to record a losing season as the starter. He also threw more passing touchdowns (157) than any other quarterback in that period and recorded the best-ever (149.0 in 2021) passer rating in the postseason.
Last year, Josh Allen racked up 385 completions for 4306 passing yards (fourth consecutive 4000-yard season) and led the league with 45 combined touchdowns. However, even with those numbers, the 2 time Pro Bowler placed outside of the Top 10 on the NFL’s Top 100 players from 2023.
Only 2 Bills players featured: Dion Dawkins at 96 (first time in his NFL career) and Allen at 12th (8th in 2022).
This did not sit well with veteran FOX analyst Chris Broussard, who felt Allen deserved to be in the Top 10 because of his numbers alone. During the recent episode of First Things First, Broussard presented Allen’s case.
I think he [Josh Allen] should be in Top 10. I think he is one of the best football players… Like this due is a football player. I get it we judge him by position, but he has so much… [But] I can’t say he has more than [Patrick] Mahomes… that whole team [Buffalo Bills] is based around Josh Allen.Chris Broussard said

The Bills team is built keeping Josh Allen in mind
Despite a shaky start to the season last year, Allen managed to turn it around with smart plays. He had all pro receiver Stefon Diggs to rely upon besides Khalil Shakir, Chase Claypool, Keon Coleman, and tights Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox.
However, they lost Diggs to the Texans after the veteran wideout wanted out of the team. Several analysts have pointed out that Allen will miss Diggs in the final third. Broussard, on the other hand, felt the opposite.
He is so good [that] we don’t have to rely on a proven No. 1 receiver—James Cook is a good running back… They do have good tight ends, but there's so much on his shoulders, and he is gonna carry them to 10 or 11 wins.Chris Broussard said
That may be true, but Allen isn’t the only quarterback in the AFC hungry to prove themselves. Besides Patrick Mahomes, there’s also Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, CJ Stroud, Trevor Lawrence, and Russell Wilson who have ambitions of playing in the Super Bowl.
For Josh Allen to succeed with the Bills, he must beat some of them, if not all. The Bills kick off their 2024 season by welcoming the Arizona Cardinals on September 8.
