In a sportsperson’s life, their family plays an important role in supporting them in their lows and highs. However, boxing superstar Chris Eubank Jr. isn’t getting that as he shares a bitter relationship with his father, Chris Eubank Sr. Recently, Eubank Jr. discussed his soured relationship with his legendary father on a public platform.
Eubank Jr. was previously coached by his father, an iconic figure in British boxing. However, Eubank Sr. has not been in his son’s corner since 2019. The IBO middleweight champion recently appeared on the Ariel Helwani Show and asked his father to train him again. However, he acknowledged that this would be challenging, as Eubank Sr. currently shows no interest in his son’s career.
Eubank Jr. has expressed that his father, Eubank Sr., doesn’t like some of his career choices. To be precise, the older Eubank isn’t a fan of the younger Eubank’s pursuit of high-stakes fights. Over the years, Eubank Jr. has aspired to step into the ring against fighters known for generating impressive PPV numbers. As such, he believed these bouts could elevate his status in the boxing world.
However, Eubank Sr. has consistently opposed this ambition, believing that the focus should be on the sport rather than the allure of extravagant paychecks. This clash of priorities has strained their relationship considerably. As such, it even led to a growing rift between father and son.

Despite their ongoing rift, both have always maintained mutual respect. Recently, Eubank Jr. has expressed a desire for his father’s mentorship as he prepares for exciting matchups. One notable potential bout is against his British rival, Conor Benn, following Eubank Jr.’s impressive victory over Kamil Szeremeta last weekend. Amidst that, there’s an interesting history between Eubank Jr. and Benn.
An intriguing tale amidst Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn’s rivalry
Chris Eubank Jr. is a veteran who made his professional boxing debut in 2011. Since then, the British boxer has defeated formidable opponents and currently holds a record of 34 wins and three losses. Eubank Jr. has had heated rivalries with fellow fighters throughout his career, including a notable one with his compatriot, Conor Benn.
Chris Eubank Sr. strongly opposed his son’s scheduled fight with Conor Benn in 2022. This fight would have occurred nearly 29 years to the day after Eubank Sr. faced Nigel Benn. Interestingly, before their children’s rivalry, Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn had a historic rivalry of their own.
Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn faced off twice during their careers. In their first match in 1990, Eubank Sr. knocked out Benn to win the WBO middleweight title. Their second and final encounter three years later ended in a draw. Meanwhile, discussions about a potential fight between Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn continue, especially as the latter aims to end his suspension this month.
