Tennis legend Chris Evert praised Novak Djokovic for winning his first Olympic gold on Sunday (August 4th). This monumental victory allowed the Serbian to ‘complete tennis’ with this medal. From the start of the year, Djokovic prioritized the Games over other tournaments, even tailoring his recovery plans accordingly.
Despite picking up the knee injury, Djoker fought his way through the rounds to secure a place in the final against Carlos Alcaraz. It was not an easy week for the 37-year-old, who struggled with his knee in the quarterfinal. Fighting through that, Djokovic had to only beat his 21-year-old rival to secure a gold for his country.
Unlike every other match, the 24-time Grand Slam champion showed extra dedication to win the match. A gold medal was long overdue for Djokovic, who had previously only won bronze (2008). After finding his way around Alcaraz, the Serbian ace was unstoppable and went on to win the match 7-6(3), 7-6(2).
It was a hard-earned victory for Djokovic, who displayed a lot of emotions after the win. Seeing this, 18-time Singles Grand Slam champion Chris Evert proclaimed Djokovic as the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time), and lauded him for the dedication and love he has for the sport.
Novak..... His love for the game and his country is unprecedented. The strength of his mind is incomparable. His GOAT status is cemented. So happy for him...Chris Evert tweeted on X.

With Sunday’s win, the Serbian completed a Career Golden Slam to become only the fifth player and third male to achieve this feat. He joined the likes of Rafael Nadal and Andre Agassi, who had previously won a career Golden Slam. The other two players to achieve this feat were two iconic women, Serena Williams and Steffi Graf.
