Chris Gayle thanks Indian PM Narendra Modi for sending coronavirus vaccines to Jamaica

West Indies cricketer and icon Chris Gayle has thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for suppling his nation of Jamaica with coronavirus vaccines. The news of India having supplied the same was confirmed by the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness earlier who stated that a total of 50,000 doses of the Astra-Zeneca vaccine were donated by the Indian government.
“I am extremely pleased to report that yesterday afternoon, we received our first shipment of 50,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine donated by the Government of India. We express our deep appreciation to the Government and people of India for this very much-needed support,” he had said.
Further, a video posted by the High Commission of India in Guyana showed former West Indies cricketers Vivian Richards, Richie Richardson, Jimmy Adams and Ramnaresh Sarwan conveying their gratitude to PM Modi for donating the vaccine under the ‘Vaccine Maitri’ scheme.

In a short video posted on Twitter by India in Jamaica, Chris Gayle can be seen thanking PM Modi for sending the vaccines to Jamaica. “PM Modi, the Government of India and the people of India, I want to thank you all for your donation of the vaccine to Jamaica. We appreciate it,” Gayle said.
Earlier, Andre Russell had also thanked PM Modi in a video posted by India in Jamaica. “I just want to say a big, big, big thank you to Prime Minister Modi and the India High Commission. The vaccines are here and we are excited. I would love to see the world going back to normal. Jamaica people really appreciate it and just to show that we are more than close, India and Jamaica are now brothers. I appreciate it and stay safe over there. Peace,” Russell had stated.
Both Chris Gayle and Andre Russell will be seen in action in India next month for the Indian Premier League season.
