“They’ve got a lot of holes to fill,” Chris Gimenez suggests Yankees to spend $500-$700 million on other position players instead of Juan Soto
Juan Soto is expected to land a $500-$700 million deal in the offseason with the Yankees one of the favorites to re-sign him.

As the MLB offseason kicks off, the free agency market once again has some big names up for grabs. One of them is Juan Soto, who is expected to land a deal around $500-$700 million.
While the New York Yankees could be the one to give him such a contract and re-sign him, former MLB catcher Chris Gimenez has suggested they use that money on other players. After his team’s agonizing World Series defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the left fielder talked about his free agency and admitted that he was open to all 30 teams in the league.
While speaking on the MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM this Saturday, Gimenez gave his insights regarding this. The 41-year-old claimed that the Yankees should use the $500-$700 million to get a few players instead of splashing the cash on Soto.
Will the @Yankees re-sign Juan Soto, or will the crosstown @Mets splash the cash?

The Yankees would most certainly need a new first baseman as the team declined their club option towards Anthony Rizzo on Sunday. Along with this, current second baseman Gleyber Torres will become a free agent after this offseason, leaving the Yankees to fill a huge void in the line-up for the potential future.
MLB insider hits back at rumors of Juan Soto-NY Mets free agency rumors
The New York Mets are reported to be one of the teams who could battle for the signature of Juan Soto in this offseason. A report on Sunday from Dan Clark on X claimed that they had agreed to a huge $660 million, 12-year deal with Soto. Jon Heyman has now hit back at this rumor.
In a tweet on X, Clark dropped the name of Heyman and claimed that as per him, Soto and the Mets have reached a deal. Whether it was a joke or not, the New York Post writer did not find this attempt of Clark funny. He would repost this and call him out.
I did NOT say this. This is apparently an attempt at humor by a guy I blocked long ago for consistently made-up rumors (not 1 mistake) and unoriginal, unfunny nastiness. Rival teams aren’t even allowed to make offers yet. https://t.co/u0iK0DggTz

Only time will now tell where Soto eventually ends up next. The Mets, along with the Yankees, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the San Diego Padres are reported to be some of the likely destinations for the four-time All-Star.
