“A f*ck you to everybody,” Top AEW star addresses chances of leaving and returning to WWE
Former World Champion and top superstar talks about leaving AEW and returning to WWE after nearly seven years.
Chris Jericho talks about going back to WWE (via WWE)
Chris Jericho has been with AEW since the company’s inception in 2019. He was crowned their inaugural world champion, has been a part of several iconic moments with the promotion, and has helped put over numerous talents. Despite being nearly synonymous with the promotion, there are always questions about his return to WWE.
Speaking to Comicbook Nation, Jericho was asked if he would ever return to WWE, especially now that Vince McMahon was out of the picture. The Lionheart revealed that he enjoyed his time with the company and could probably work there in the future. Although he looked at these things purely from a business perspective, he is now relishing working with AEW.
Jericho was proud of everything that the company had achieved since its inception, especially its new TV deal. He, Tony Khan, and others at the company had set out to make an impact in the professional wrestling industry. They were finally on their way to doing so considering the amount of money they were going to receive thanks to the new deal.
There still might be time in his career for Jericho to return to the Stamford-based promotion if he ever wants to. He has explicitly stated that he has no plans to retire from professional wrestling any time soon, despite fans demanding it.
Wrestling veteran Bill Apter questions Chris Jericho’s leadership skills
When AEW was established in 2019, Chris Jericho became the leader of a group called the Inner Circle. Shortly after that faction disbanded, he was seen leading the Jericho Appreciation Society. Over the past few months, the 53-year-old has adopted the gimmick of the Learning Tree. Furthermore, he has taken Big Bill and Bryan Keith under his tutelage.
Bill Apter, speaking on WrestleBinge, claimed that Chris Jericho was being very deceived. The Man of 1,004 Holds wants to portray that he mentors the younger generation of professional wrestlers. However, after the events of JAS, he doubted if the Canadian was the best person to learn from.
Apter said that everyone who joined a faction under the former WWE Champion’s tutelage seemed to get lost in the shuffle. This happened both with the Inner Circle and the Jericho Appreciation Society. Thus, while the wrestling veteran was a fan of Big Bill, he was worried for his future.
