All the rumors and speculations surrounding the legendary Travis Kelce’s retirement finally came to an end as the Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach confirmed that the tight end is indeed returning for the 2025 season– probably one for the books with the team’s championship comeback. However, his teammate Chris Jones’ social media post after this announcement is what caught everyone’s attention.
Kelce’s gloomy face and unfiltered confession of exhaustion after the Super Bowl loss made many foresee a possible retirement coming. However, while speaking at NFL Scouting Combine, Veach announced that the ten-time Pro Bowler is fired up to get back in the championship form once the season began since he has one season remaining in his two-year lucrative extension he signed in 2024 offseason.
Shortly after the announcement captured all the headlines, Kelce’s longtime teammate and future Hall of Famer Jones shared a cryptic social media post, expressing his happiness of having the star tight end back for some “unfinished business.”
My dawg got to come back we got unfinished business.

It seemed quite obvious which “unfinished business” was Jones referring to. Following the Chiefs’ humiliating Super Bowl loss at the end of the Philadelphia Eagles, all that the Chiefs are thinking about is pulling the most remarkable comeback since they couldn’t complete the historic three-peat.
Together, Jones and Kelce have won three Super Bowl titles yet their insatiable desire for more remain palpable. Now, as both of them are approaching the possibility of retirement, they appeared fired up to secure another Super Bowl ring, adding to their glorifying legacy.
Chris Jones and Travis Kelce’s legacy continues to shape Kansas City’s future
After being drafted in 2016, Jones has spent his entire NFL career being loyal to the Chiefs. And there he met, Kelce– one of his oldest teammates. Their penchant for practical jokes made them great friends, even so that Jones said in an interview last offseason that he plans to retire alongside Kelce.

He’s got like four or five more years, and what is he talking about retirement for? We can’t let TK go. It’s like, we retire, we’ve got to retire together. Give me like, at least six more years, then we’ll talk about it.
Jones said via Sports Radio 810 WHB.
Jones and Kelce, both destined for future Hall of Fame honor, are known to be the biggest reasons behind Kansas City’s dominance in the league over the past half-decade. And Jones’ recent response to Kelce’s return for another season shows the significant trust he has on the tight end.
