Despite winning two Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs, Chris Oladokun had yet to start a game for them in four years. Oladokun finally got his chance in the limelight against the Denver Broncos in Week 17.
It took a little while to get accustomed to the game’s pace before discovering his groove. The highlight moment of Oladokun’s night took place at the start of the third quarter.
The Chiefs led by one point, and Oladokun decided to increase the gap between them and the Broncos. After snapping the ball on 2nd & seven from inside the Chiefs’ half, Oladokun dashed left to avoid the on-rushing Broncos blitz.
However, the ball slipped out of his hands as he tried to maneuver his way through. Fortunately for the home team, Oladokun managed to recover the loose ball and threw a completion to Juju Smith-Schuster for a 12-yard gain.

The drive ended with Harrison Butker scoring a field goal from 53 yards. It wasn’t a touchdown, but three points are better than a punt. Oladokun viewed the entire sequence differently. Even though he completed a pass, the 28-year-old harshly critiqued his effort.
It’s definitely one of those sh** moments.

Of course, the best moment of Oladokun’s fledgling QB1 career took place in the Chiefs’ second drive. He orchestrated a 35-yard drive, which was finished off by rookie running back Brashard Smith for a 5-yard touchdown run. Smith caught the ball and juked two Broncos defenders to score his and Oladokun’s first career NFL touchdown.

It’s actually a minor miracle that he even found Smith on the play, because he only spotted the RB just moments before making the pass. It was a heat-of-the-moment decision by the ex-seventh-rounder.
Chiefs QB Chris Oladokun said he could hardly see Brashard Smith on the TD pass. He says that Allen Wright is going to split the ball in half since it's the first NFL touchdown for both Oladokun and Smith.

Chris Oladokun reacted to Travis Kelce’s retirement rumors
Similar to Oladokun, Thursday night’s game was also an emotional ride for Travis Kelce, but for completely different reasons. According to the rumor mill, it was perhaps Kelce’s final game at Arrowhead Stadium before hanging up his cleats for good.

Kelce had marginally better stats against the Broncos compared to last week’s tally. He caught 5 passes for 36 yards in a 20-13 defeat. He soaked in the “Kelce, Kelce” chants from the crowd before disappearing inside the tunnel. Oladokun had 13 completions from 22 attempts for 66 yards and 1 touchdown.
Reporters sought Oladokun’s thoughts on the discussions surrounding Kelce’s potential retirement.
He’s the greatest tight end of all time, I’d be a fool not to lean on him a little bit… Even the quarter where he didn’t get a reception, he’s still in my ear telling me we’re going to get this thing going.

Coincidentally, Oladokun’s first completion in the NFL was to Kelce. It came during last week’s defeat to the Titans.
If you had told me my first NFL completion was going to be to Travis Kelce, I probably would’ve laughed at you.
Oladokun said
Oladokun played because both the Chiefs’ starter, Patrick Mahomes, and QB2 Gardner Minshew are injured. Mahomes tore his ACL, and Minshew suffered a fracture in his knee in Tennessee.
The Chiefs have now lost five straight games, leaving them with a 6-10 record (first time since 2001). They wrap up the regular season at the Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium, where they have never tasted defeat.
