On Monday night, Chris Taylor returned to a Los Angeles team. After being released by the Los Angeles Dodgers a few days ago, the 2-time World Series winner signed a 1-year deal with the Los Angeles Angels.
Taylor, who played as a utility man, joined the Dodgers in 2016. Since then, he appeared in several positions for the National League side and wore the Dodger blue uniform for a decade.
The 34-year-old played just 87 games for the Dodgers in 2024, as he also battled a groin injury. The year saw his batting average drop to .202, the lowest he ever had while playing for the team.
This year, the player saw himself make just 28 appearances for team and was limited to just 35 at-bats. On May 18, the Dodgers officially released him.
Eight days after becoming a free agent, the American international signed a one-year deal and joined the Dodgers’ crosstown rivals, the LA Angels. He thus became the latest player to join the long list of players to appear for both Los Angeles teams.

Taylor would waste no time and suited up for the Angels on Monday. He made his official debut for the team against the New York Yankees and played in the center field position. While batting, he went 0-for-3 while striking out 2 times. The Angels ended up losing 5-1.
Social media reacts to Chris Taylor joining the LA Angels
The way things had been going in the past few months, it seemed inevitable that Chris Taylor might not be used more often by the Los Angeles Dodgers. After being limited to just 28 games, the player was released by the team.

He ended up going to Anaheim and join the Angels on a 1-year deal. Fans on social media were left stunned a little bit by this development.
Taylor’s joining the Angels ignited some wild reactions from MLB fans. Several users trolled him for joining the American League West side after playing so long for the Dodgers. One user wrote, “Bro got sent to the minors” while reacting to this.

The two rival teams recently squared off against each other during MLB’s first-ever Rivalry Week. The Angels sent shockwaves across the MLB as they swept their opponents in this series. This was the first time they had swept the Dodgers in a Freeway Series since 2010.
Chris Taylor ‘excited’ to join LA Angels after spending 10 seasons with LA Dodgers
Chris Taylor’s era at the Los Angeles Dodgers came to an end last week after he was released from the team. A few days later, he joined his former team’s SoCal rivals and remained in LA.

While speaking to the reporters, Taylor expressed that he was ‘excited’ to join the Angels. He then proceeded to reflect on his season with the Dodgers.
I’m excited to stay home. The Angels have been playing really good baseball. So I’m excited to join the team and hopefully get on the field. That’s one thing with the Dodgers this year. Just my role, I wasn’t getting on the field that much. So I’m really just looking forward to getting some consistent at-bats.

In his first game with his new side, Taylor got 3 at-bats. He though, failed to make any significant impression as the Los Angeles Angels were restricted to just 5 hits in the series opener against the Yankees.
The Angels have had a mixed run of form this year. They started the season strongly but then went on a huge losing run. Recently, they had an 8-game winning streak. Following the loss against the Miami Marlins, they lost 2 more on the bounce and are 25-28 for the season.
