The 48th edition of the Copa America is well underway, with Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and the USMNT getting off the mark. After defending champions Argentina and South American powerhouse Uruguay got off to winning starts, the USMNT led by Christian Pulisic also announced their arrival in the competition with a win.

Former Chelsea man and current AC Milan forward Christian Pulisic has undoubtedly been the USMNT’s best player in recent years. The 25-year-old wasted no time get their tournament off the mark as he grabbed a stunning goal within the opening three minutes of their game against Bolivia.

Picking the ball up from a corner kick, Pulisic slowly made his way to the edge of the penalty area before letting fly. His unexpected shot caught everyone off-guard, including Bolivian goalkeeper Guillermo Viscarra.

His powerful shot gave the keeper no time to react and found its way into the top right corner in no time! Following the win, USMNT are second in Group C behind Uruguay.

The USMNT are out with a point to prove in this year’s edition of the Copa America. A statement 2-0 win over Bolivia, coupled with a clean sheet set the stage for an exciting clash with Federico Valverde‘s Uruguay. Christian Pulisic got his team off the mark in the third minute with a stunning goal worthy of winning any game.

Their second goal of the game did not come until the final minutes of the first half. Folarin Balogun unleashed a powerful grounded shot with his left foot from outside the box, which gave the opposition keeper no chance at all. With a goal and an assist, Pulisic sent a strong message to the rest of the teams in the competition.

On the other hand, Uruguay also eased past their opponents in Panama. The men in blue had Maximiliano Araujo, Darwin Nunez and Matias Vina to thank for their goals. However, Panama did pull one bank through Michael Murillo in the final minutes of the second half.

His left footed curler is easily one of the candidates for goal of the tournament. The USMNT play their next game against Panama while Uruguay take on Bolivia. Uruguay are one of the favorites to dethrone defending champions Argentina in this year’s edition of the Copa America.
