While it’s becoming evident that the Carolina Panthers are having another disastrous season, they seem to be already preparing for next season. They started it by securing the existing players on the team, who have proved to be capable of handing them rejuvenation. The topmost name on the list is running Chuba Hubbard.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported this Thursday that the Panthers have secured running back Hubbard for another four years by signing an extension worth $33.2 million. He can maximize this contract up to $37.2 million, including $15 million fully guaranteed.
Amid the losing season, if there’s been any strong trait in Carolina– it’s been Hubbard as he entered Week 10 of this season as a fifth-ranking rusher in the league with 665 yards and five rushing touchdown scores along with an impressive 5 yards per carry.
“We are excited to sign Chuba to an extension and keep him in Carolina,” said the Panthers General Manager Dan Morgan about rewarding Hubbard with a lucrative contract.

With this new deal, the Panthers have raised the fourth-year running back’s yearly salary by $5 million, given he previously used to make $3.1 million in base salary. Additionally, Hubbard has now been enlisted among the Top 10 highest-paid running backs in the league at the 6th position.
Fans react to Carolina Panthers rewarding Chuba Hubbard with a lucrative contract extension
The main reason behind rewarding Hubbard with such lucrative money despite another season collapse is General Manager Morgan’s broader plan of building a strong roster to improve the Panthers’ lowest offensive ranking. They believe Hubbard has the potential to develop further within a strong offense and so do the fans.
Appreciating the contract, one fan wrote, “Well deserved. Such an underrated player,” joined by another, who exclaimed, “Great move by the Panthers. Hubbard has been solid this year.” Here are some of the fan reactions:

He’s earned it this season. Every season he’s gotten just a bit better at playing RB.

Smart roster building, lock up the franchise RB first.

With Brooks coming back, it is safe to say Miles Sanders won’t be in Carolina next season.

Sitting with a 2-7 record, the Panthers are next up against the New York Giants in Munich– for the lone NFL game in Germany. Fortunately, they are also activating Jonathon Brooks to pair him up with Hubbard, and the two are anticipated to provide a significant boost to Carolina’s offense.
