Aryna Sabalenka is bidding to win her fourth title of the season after her victories at the Brisbane International, Miami Open, and the Madrid Open. Apart from these tournaments, the Belarusian ace also reached the finals of the Australian Open and the French Open, but was unsuccessful in defeating Madison Keys and Coco Gauff, respectively.

Sabalenka also made it to the Indian Wells final and the Stuttgart Open final. In the former event, Mirra Andreeva defeated her, while in Stuttgart, Jelena Ostapenko denied her the title.

Before beating Maneiro, the three-time Grand Slam singles champion went past Marketa Vondrousova and Emma Raducanu. The Cincinnati Masters is her first tournament since her defeat to eventual runner-up Amanda Anisimova in the Wimbledon semifinal.

Elena Rybakina, before beating Keys, also had to toil for three sets to eliminate her opponents in the first two rounds. She arrived in Cincinnati after playing the Canadian Open, where her run was ended in the semifinal by Victoria Mboko. The Kazakh ace also participated in the Citi Open but failed to reach the summit clash because of her three-set defeat to eventual winner Leylah Fernandez in the last four.

So far in her career, the former World No.3 has lifted only two WTA 1000 titles. These were: 2022 Indian Wells (beat Sabalenka in the final) and the Italian Open, the same season. The last time she reached a WTA 1000 final was at the 2024 Miami Open, where Danielle Collins denied her the title.
