Andy Murray Alexander Zverev
The Round of 32 clash between Andy Murray and Alexander Zverev at Cincinnati Open 2020 will be a treat to the eyes of every tennis fan around the globe. Both, when on top of their game, can beat the best in the business on any given day. While fifth-seeded Zverev got a first-round bye, World No.134 Murray faced a stiff competition from American Frances Tiafoe in the first round before prevailing 7-6, 3-6,6-1.
The last event Murray participated in was Davis Cup Finals (2019). On the other hand, Zverev has a topsy-turvy season so far. The 23-year old German reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open is the only highlight of his performance in 2020. He has a not so great 6-5 win/loss record this season.
Andy Murray vs Alexander Zverev | Head-to-Head
Before their encounter in New York, the two players have met each other only once. It was way back in 2016 in the first round match at the Australian Open. There, Murray had no problems whatsoever beating a then 18-year old Zverev 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 in a lop-sided contest. Therefore, Murray leads the head-to-head record against Alexander Zverev 1-0.
Andy Murray vs Alexander Zverev prediction
The result of this match is really hard to predict. Surely there is a huge ranking difference between the two (Zverev is World No.7 while Murray is World No.134 presently), the ranking doesn’t really count in this clash. The advantage with Zverev is he has had more matches in comparison to three-time Grand Slam champion Murray, who hasn’t played any competitive tennis prior to this tournament. Having said that, Murray has a lot of experience and knows how to deal with the pressure in high-octane matches.
Whosoever wins the match, it is certain that it will be a fast-paced encounter and will be really interesting to watch both these superstars play.
Match Prediction: Alexander Zverev defeats Andy Murray in a grueling three-set marathon match.
