Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova will square off against compatriot Marie Bouzkova in a Round of 32 match at the Cincinnati Open 2020. While sixth-seeded Kvitovagot first-round bye, Bouzkova defeated Anna Kalinskaya 6-1, 7-5 in the Round of 64.

30-year old Kvitova has had a good season so far, although she is yet to win a title this season. The World No.12 reached quarterfinals of the Australian Open and was runner-up in Doha. Her 14 wins against 6 losses prove that she went deep in the tournaments this season. On the other hand, 22-year old Bouzkova has also performed decently in 2020, raking up 11 wins against 7 losses. The World No.48, though, had a miserable outing in Melbourne, bowing out in the first round itself. Her best finish came in the recently concluded Prague Open, where she made it to the quarters.

Going by the form this year, Kvitova has an edge over her compatriot. Moreover, the two-time Grand Slam champion is far more experienced and is on the professional circuit long before Bouzkova debuted. However, playing the first-round match would have somewhat provided an idea of conditions in New York to Bouzkova. Still, Kvitova should win this match and progress to the next round. The match going to the third set seems unlikely but two tough sets are definitely on the cards.
