Since his trade, CJ Gardner-Johnson seems to have made it his mission to trash-talk the Philadelphia Eagles. He cannot fathom the fact that his services would no longer be required right after leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory.

The 27-year-old went off against his former side in fiery social media statements and various interviews. He made it a personal vendetta.

Recently, during Instagram Live, a fan commented that he would never win another Super Bowl ring because he is no longer with a winning team. Gardner-Johnson saw the comment, and instead of ignoring it as friendly banter, he chose to reply.

That’s crazy. [The Eagles] probably won’t see [a Super Bowl win] without me. [What the f***] are you talking about? You saw what happened when I left. I’m popping now. [What the f***] are you talking about, I’m glad I’m in Texas. They say everything is better in Texas.

CJ Gardner-Johnson reacted

Previously, Gardner-Johnson claimed that he found it hard to believe when the Eagles proposed the trade. He thought general manager Howie Roseman was pranking him because April 1 was just around the corner. However, the Eagles traded him and a 2026 sixth-round draft pick to the Houston Texans for guard Kenyon Green and a 2025 fifth-round pick.

CJ Gardner-Johnson felt disrespected when the Eagles traded him

The Texans are on the rise. They have a star young quarterback and a loaded receiving corps with an astute defense, and they recently improved their running back room.

No matter how much CJGJ says that Texas is a great place to play football, his statements clearly hint that he wanted to stay in Philly. While speaking with KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, CJGJ revealed feeling stabbed in the back when Roseman traded him.

I feel highly disrespected… People say, ‘He’s a hazard, he’s this, he’s that.’ I have never been no hazard, bro. They got no real issues on me. That black ball ain’t going to work on me, because I got me a ring.

CJ Gardner-Johnson said

Eagles’ defensive coordinator Vic Fangio clarified that they had no other option but to trade CJGJ to keep the salary cap under control. Gardner-Johnson dismissed Fangio’s explanation.

I was a test dummy for them. So now they can be like, my ‘scheme’ work, or did my skillset make it work… I had zero issues [with the team] people had issues with me. So, yeah the salary cap be the ‘excuse’.

CJGJ spent the 2023 season on the Lions roster but played just three games after suffering a torn pectoral. After rejoining the Eagles following his one-year layover in Detroit, the former fourth-rounder claimed the Lions lacked the winning mentality and culture.

Detroit! It was hell… I got lied to, so it was, whatever. I got told, respectfully, I was going to get brought back and didn’t get brought back.

CJGJ needs to be thick-skinned to deal with the negativity and chatter. The Eagles might miss his services in the secondary. He recorded 59 combined tackles, 12 pass deflections, 6 interceptions, 1 touchdown, and 1 forced fumble in 16 games last year.
