CJ Stroud‘s optimism knows no bounds. The quarterback for the Houston Texans had a memorable rookie campaign. Now, he looks forward to turning the clock back this year. His team has just gotten better this off-season. With the addition of Stefon Diggs, Stroud has one of the best wide receiver core to throw the ball to.
The quarterback, in his recent press conference, had nothing but positive things to say about his WR1 Nico Collins, who recently signed a three-year deal worth $72.5 million to stay with the Houston Texans. Stroud spoke about his work ethic and his talent.
He's constantly here working on his body, working on his hands, on his mobility, in the weight room, for me it means...like having five number 1s. I've had that before in college and I have it again. It's going to be fun man, and Nico, he loves to see everybody else eat too and his love for his brothers hasn't changed and you know, it's a special feeling to see somebody who deserves to get paid and get what they deserve., I'm just proud of him.CJ Stroud said
The quarterback deems himself fortunate to have a wideout such as Collins on his team. Stroud had an appreciation for Collins’ work ethic and hunger to improve himself. It reminded the quarterback of his days at Ohio State University, his alma mater, wherein he had two of the best wideouts on his team in Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Marvin Harrison Jr. The roster had an amazing receiver core and Stroud believes, this year, the Texans have replicated the same situation for him.
CJ Stroud has the best wide receiver core in the NFL at the moment
The Texans offense this season is going to be SCARY. Featuring Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell, John Metchie III, and Robert Woods, it will be a nightmare for defenses to keep all of them contained. For CJ Stroud, he could not have asked for a better situation to be in.
Texans fans should expect the quarterback to outperform himself this season with this roster. Although Nico Collins did not make the desired impact on the team’s offense in his first two seasons, he bounced back strong in 2023, where he had 80 receptions for 1,297 yards and 8 touchdowns. Stroud went as far as to compare him to Andre Johnson.
While discussing Nico Collins' contract extension and his emergence as a No. 1 wide receiver, CJ Stroud paused to say, "I think we have five No. 1 receivers. I’ve had that before in college, and now I have it again. It's going to be fun, man.”

When his number is called, he always makes a play. He's a generational talent, like our age's Andre Johnson, in my opinion.CJ Stroud added
Fortunately for the Texans, they got a deal done with the wideout a week before the Vikings signed Justin Jefferson to a $140 million deal. The wide receiver market has completely changed since this contract was inked, moving forward, players will not hesitate to demand more from teams in order to stay with them.
