Even though Dak Prescott couldn’t succeed in winning playoff games last season, one cannot deny he led the Dallas Cowboys to the postseason being NFC’s second-seeded team with the NFC East title. So believe CJ Stroud, as he named Prescott among the top five quarterbacks in the NFL.
As the league awaits the 2024 regular season, there has been a lot of conversation about the top quarterbacks in the NFL. This even reached the reigning Rookie of the Year, who was asked to name the top five quarterbacks in his recent appearance on Barstool Sports’ MILLION DOLLAZ WORTH OF GAME podcast.
While the Houston Texans star didn’t snub himself off the list, he counted the Cowboys quarterback at the fifth position in his list. Since the playoff elimination, Prescott’s performance has faced intense scrutiny, which even left his highly-anticipated extension hanging in the air by the franchise.

The other quarterbacks on Stroud’s list are Patrick Mahomes at the top, followed by Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. But he switched Allen with the Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts when counting top signal callers in the league and also snubbed off Brock Purdy despite his MVP-caliber year with the San Francisco 49ers, leading up to the Super Bowl.
CJ Stroud eyes greater heights in second NFL season
After leading the Texans to the playoffs with an AFC South title, Stroud had one of the best rookie seasons by a quarterback in the history of the NFL. He is now preparing for the upcoming season, he is aiming for a showdown with his massive development.
Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik shared that the star quarterback is picking up right where he left off last season. He also emphasized that Stroud and the team aim to hit the trajectory even higher next season since the second season is considered the most important one for a QB.
As the Texans have now got a taste of Stroud’s capabilities, the coaching staff has been able to focus on the factors that make him great and how he can grow more within the offense.
