‘Confident’ CJ Stroud elated to have bunch of options in stacked Texans offense: “It’s a five-headed monster”

Despite being one of the most exciting teams in the 2023 NFL season, Texans and their quarterback CJ Stroud have acclimated themselves to start from the scratch and added new players to the offense.

CJ Stroud, after heeding his head coach DeMeco Ryans’ words, wants to start from zero. Instead of idling around, the Houston Texans took advantage of the offseason and the NFL Draft, making quality additions to the roster.

Besides the returning wide receivers, Tank Dell, Nico Collins, and tight end Dalton Schultz, Ryans, and general manager Nick Caserio signed All-Pro playmaker Stefon Diggs and Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon. Additionally, they also took four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Danielle Hunter from Minnesota.

One can easily praise the level of work Caserio put in to acquire those players. CJ Stroud thinks the Texans’ offense is one of the best in the NFL.

It's a five-headed monster. It's definitely super dope to have just a bunch of options.

Stroud’s rookie year went down in history books as he broke and set several records. It was possible because of the surrounding support, but at the back of his mind, he knows that no two NFL seasons are the same.

CJ Stroud claimed that there’s a target on the back of the Houston Texans

The Texans shocked the league last season by bagging the AFC South title ahead of the Jaguars and the Colts. In the playoffs, they defeated the Cleveland Browns, eventually losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round.

Despite the success, Ryans pointed out that they won several games by a single-digit margin, which could have easily gone the other way.

I know we won some games, but guys, [look], we had 10 games within one score, and these games were down to the wire, and we had to find a way at the end.
DeMeco Ryans told his players

Yet the other teams would not see it that way because a loss is a loss. Stroud claimed this put a target on their back, especially from the AFC teams that missed out on the playoffs last season.

It's going to be harder. We have a target on our back this year. That's how you should want it, and that's what I'm used to playing at Ohio State.
CJ Stroud said

On the flip side, unlike last year, Stroud will have the services of Diggs, who left the Bills out of frustration. Stroud praised Diggs for being one of the best in the game.

He's somebody who loves the game and doesn't cheat it, and that's why he's been successful, and I think he'll continue that success.
Stroud said about Stefon Diggs

The Texans began their training camp on Wednesday. They will face their divisional rivals, the Indianapolis Colts, on opening day.
