While CJ Stroud never fails to demonstrate that the Houston Texans made the right decision in drafting him, he once again stood by those words as he addressed questions about his future with the team. Becoming a muse to the ears of Texans fans, the second-year quarterback expressed his profound love for the team.
After an astounding rookie season that earned him the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, Stroud’s second-year campaign ended with a disappointing divisional-round elimination. Besides the on-field struggle, the team sustained multiple injuries, including major two ones that ended the season for wide receiver Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell ultimately compromising the whole team.
But despite the struggle, Stroud’s confidence in his team hasn’t trembled. While participating in Travis Scott’s annual Cactus Jack HBCU softball game, the young signal-caller stated his intention to stay with the team for the long haul, while also acknowledging that the decision is not entirely in his hands.
I love Houston, man. I pray every day and I just thank God for the opportunity to be here every day. So, I hope I’m here for 100 years and whatever the Lord allows me to be. I’m super, super blessed and grateful.

Even though many argue the 2024 campaign didn’t go as glorious as Stroud’s debut season, he still managed to secure the AFC South title and advanced the Texans to the divisional round against the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. He completed his second year in the league with 3,727 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
Uncertainty looms over Stefon Diggs’ future in Houston despite great chemistry with CJ Stroud
Though the 2023 Rookie Player of the Year realizes that the decision to stay in Houston involves more than just his own wishes, there’s a good chance that the franchise would not let him go. However, the same thing cannot be said for his teammate and wide receiver Diggs.

The franchise acquired him with great expectations to boast the offense but everything was crushed when he severely injured his knee, which now is casting doubt on his future. After playing just eight games and missing the remaining, the four-time Pro Bowler is set to hit the free agency market next month.
But before losing an offensive weapon like him, who also formed good chemistry with quarterback Stroud, the Texans will need to add a proven weapon. Adding a young talent like Missouri standout wide receiver Luther Burden III may actually turn out well for them as ESPN’s Field Yates projected in his mock draft.
