It was a rough Sunday outing for the Houston Texans and CJ Stroud. The star quarterback has earned a reputation for being one of the more consistent quarterbacks in the league. However, he had one of those forgettable night in the team’s matchup against the Detroit Lions.

Despite Jared Goff‘s struggles on offense after throwing for five interceptions in one night, CJ Stroud and the Texans failed to orchestrate a return. The game came down to the wire and fortunately, Jake Bates secured the win for Detroit by kicking a field goal in the final seconds of the game.

In the fourth quarter of the game, Ka’imi Fairbairn, the kicker for the Texans, had a shot at taking the lead for his team, but he missed the opportunity. This led to Jared Goff subsequently setting the team up in perfect field goal range before Jake Bates nailed the 58-yard field goal.

Stroud had a bad night with 2 interceptions, 1 touchdown, and 232 yards. However, his mother, Kimberly believes her son took on more heat than was called for.

Despite a bad game, Stroud wound up impressing his fans and earning more of their respect. He held himself accountable for the team’s loss, even though he could have given a generic and evasive answer. In his postgame press conference, Stroud acknowledged he needed to step up.

I feel like this game was on me. Definitely, you gotta make the plays, you gotta make the throws, can’t turn the ball over in scoring positions. So yeah, I blame this on me. I gotta be better in those moments.

Houston continues to lead the AFC South with a 6-4 record despite the loss. The team is expected to win the division, but the final stretch of the season is challenging for them as they take on the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens.
