As Joel Embiid did not play for the Philadelphia 76ers, the franchise suffers a frustrating loss against Cleveland Cavaliers. Sixers new signing, Dwight Howard had his first start in place of Joel Embiid, in hopes of giving Ben Simmons some freedom offensively. But that wasn’t to be the case. Ben Simmons as well as Tobias Harris seemed to require Embiid to express themselves better on the court. The former two scored 15 and 13 points respectively.
With Danny Green and Seth Curry yet to find their 100% form, problems seemed to be only increasing for the 76ers quarter after quarter. Talking about the Cleveland Cavaliers, they have shut down all their critics by thundering 3 wins in 3 matches in the 2020-21 season so far.
Andre Drummond scores 24 as Cleveland Cavaliers beat Philadelphia 76ers by 24-points
Andre Drummond seemed to be in his grove with a double-double score of 24-points and 14 rebounds. Drummond was dominating on all end of the court as he also registered 3 steals and 2 blocks against his name. The supporting role was played yet again by Collin Sexton as he scored 22 points. Drummond, who has three double-doubles, netted 15 points and 10 rebounds in the first half as Cleveland carried a 64-50 advantage into the break. Harris and Simmons had 13 points apiece for the 76ers.
Philadelphia 76ers’ dependency on and around Joel Embiid was evident. But they would need to pull up their up their socks if they are to improve this season, given that they have a more compact roster in this season.
Having said that let’s see how these two teams perform in their next encounters as the Cleveland Cavaliers face the New York Knicks. Whereas the Philadelphia 76ers would be facing Toronto Raptors.
