“I’m almost afraid of me,” CM Punk breaks silence after falling short at Royal Rumble; reveals how he’d have booked the ending not including Jey Uso
CM Punk's journey in this year's Royal Rumble match ended rather abruptly when he got eliminated by Logan Paul.

Failing to keep his word of winning the 2025 men’s Royal Rumble match, CM Punk has done some retrospection on it. The Second City Saint was a guest on Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen‘s Good Guy/Bad Guy podcast this Monday. If he had the pencil and authority to do so, Punk would’ve had himself and John Cena as the final two in the Rumble.
But what’s surprising is Punk booking himself to lose and finish as the runner-up to Cena. The Chicagoan alluded to the need to overcome adversity at this stage of his career. To Punk, losing means more right now. The Best in the World admitted that he’s almost afraid of achieving everything he’s aspired to in this business. Why’s that so?
It’s because Punk feels he’d be left with nothing to care about in pro wrestling as a performer. Having said that, how does he feel about a man who pulled off one of the biggest upsets in WWE history on Saturday—Jey Uso? Punk thought it was fantastic to have the former Bloodline win the Royal Rumble.
The moment stood out to Punk because of whose expense it came about. Jey punched his ticket to WrestleMania by dumping Cena over the top rope. That in itself was quite a statement. As Punk stressed, most of the fans would’ve automatically imagined that the Peacemaker star would go through. But then it didn’t happen.
Addressing the online criticism around this year’s Royal Rumble winners, The Straight Edge Superstar put it as simply as he could. At the Rumble, it’s just not a battle among 30 of the best names but also their fanbases. When 29 of them don’t win, they’re going to converge and cause the obvious discourse about that man or woman who gets it done.
CM Punk couldn’t wait to unload on John Cena at the Elimination Chamber
The fans were expecting way more than what they got out of CM Punk and John Cena‘s faceoff at the Royal Rumble. They didn’t even get to interact one-on-one. But these iconic rivals will get to share the ring in next month’s Elimination Chamber match.
While the Cenation Leader thought he earned the distinction to announce a direct entry into it, Punk had to earn it the hard way. This week on Raw, The Voice of the Voiceless ousted Sami Zayn in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match. It was the first time they’d wrestled each other in WWE.
In the aforementioned interview, Punk mocked Cena for getting a bye into the Chamber as he’s too busy filming “Matchbox” in Hungary. On top of that, The Second City Saint wants to “slap the sh*t” out of Mr. Ricky Stanicky.
