Almost a year later, the infamous backstage fight between CM Punk and Jack Perry continues to make headlines. After Punk opened up about the All In incident ahead of WrestleMania, AEW decided to air the footage on Dynamite. The decision was met with heavy backlash on social media as fans couldn’t understand the benefit of releasing it. Recently, The Second City Saint expressed his opinion on the whole situation.

Speaking with Jimmy Traina of Sports Illustrated, Punk felt that airing the backstage altercation neither helped AEW nor portrayed him in a bad light. Moreover, he believed that it was a direct jab at him. The Best in the World hilariously pointed out how he was the top draw for both WWE and AEW despite leaving the latter promotion in September 2023.

While AEW received criticism for the angle, it admittedly helped integrate Perry into The Elite storyline. The former FTW Champion returned at Dynasty weeks later to a huge pop. Since then, the 27-year-old has been one of the most prominent members of the roster, winning the TNT Championship. The Scapegoat will defend his title against Darby Allin on August 25 at All In.

So it just felt really ugly, but then I was just like ‘why’, like showing that footage isn’t gonna help them or hurt me so I was just like whatever. Being the top draw in 2 different companies is pretty wild like, thanks guys.

Meanwhile, Punk’s return to WWE has been a success so far. Despite only wrestling in one televised bout, the 45-year-old star has somehow managed to continue his rivalry with Drew McIntyre. The Best in the World will finally square off against The Scottish Warrior at SummerSlam this Saturday. Interestingly, the All In backstage altercation recently gained steam on social media due to McIntyre himself.

Drew McIntyre trolled CM Punk by posing with Jack Perry ahead of SummerSlam bout

A week ago, Drew McIntyre shocked the wrestling community when he posted a photo with Jack Perry on his X account. Additionally, he captioned the picture, mocking CM Punk with Perry’s quote from All In. However, he quickly deleted the post within hours, sparking even more speculation online.

McIntyre hasn’t hesitated to bring up Punk’s past grievances with other wrestlers during their rivalry. Prior to the aforementioned picture, The Scottish Warrior quoted his rival’s pipebomb promo and namedropped his former friend, Colt Cabana.

On this week’s Raw, the pair faced off for the final time before their battle at the Biggest Party of the Summer. Seth Rollins, the special guest referee, vowed not only to be impartial but to also not get involved physically in their bout. Needless to say, fans cannot wait to see Punk’s first WWE televised singles match in over a decade.
