On Saturday evening in Atlanta, CM Punk settled his 'bad blood' with Drew McIntyre once and for all in a brutal Hell in a Cell war.

This weekend at WWE Bad Blood, CM Punk slammed the door shut on his saga with Drew McIntyre. And in a classy move, The Second City Saint has dedicated that hard-fought win to his friend Chad Gilbert, who’s fighting cancer. Earlier today, Punk visited Chad while he was on his chemotherapy. Taking to his Instagram stories, the Raw Superstar said that Gilbert’s a real warrior.
Earlier this year, when CM Punk tore his triceps, he turned up on Raw after Royal Rumble. A teary-eyed Punk informed the WWE Universe about the injury and said he’d have to miss out on competing at WrestleMania XL. Shortly after that, he mentioned his cancer-fighting buddy Chad for the first time. Months later, Punk has circled back to him in the most fitting way possible.
But guess what? The real-life Phil Brooks definitely had his work cut out by the resilience of Drew McIntyre. These men were the opening match at Bad Blood. Fans had high hopes pinned on this Hell in a Cell showdown, and the two didn’t let anyone down. In one of the most gruesome WWE matches ever, the Scot was slayed by an unhinged Chicagoan.
They were busted open on numerous occasions, with streams of blood painting the canvas red. The aftermath of it saw McIntyre receiving 16 staples on his head to close the wounds. A moment that probably stood out from that bloodbath inside HIAC was when Drew emptied a bag full of beads on Punk.
However, that’s where The Scottish Warrior got cocky. He missed the claymore, landing tailbone first on the edge of the steel steps. After that, Punk fastened a steel chain about his knee cap to deliver a GTS for the win.
What’s next for CM Punk after Bad Blood?
The Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood was arguably the exclamation point in CM Punk’s long-standing beef with Drew McIntyre. It’d be safe to assume that they’re done with each other.
There are rumors that Drew might head for a break. However, The Best in the World can now focus on something he’s been eyeing for a while—the World Heavyweight title. Last month, it was reported that WWE was considering a first-time-ever matchup between Punk and Gunther at Survivor Series: WarGames.
This Monday on Raw, The Ring General has a date with Sami Zayn with the world title up for grabs. If Gunther retains, that might clear his route for a match with The Voice of the Voiceless down the road.
