CM Punk's line on Hulk Hogan was reportedly unscripted [via- WWE and NBC]
On this week’s episode of Raw, CM Punk took a verbal jab at Hulk Hogan. While vowing to win the Royal Rumble, Punk welcomed all possible opponents, including The Hulkster. Despite the line coming out of the blue, the crowd cheered loudly at the prospect of Punk putting an end to Hulkamania. While Hogan might not have taken too kindly to it, people behind the scenes supposedly found the hilarious side of things.
According to a report by Fightful Select, Punk’s line on Raw was unscripted. However, The Second City Saint didn’t receive any backstage heat for going off script. In fact, people backstage even laughed about it. Not only are wrestling fans no longer fond of Hogan’s schtick, but it seems that a lot of personalities within WWE don’t vibe with the icon.
At the Raw Netflix premiere, Hogan returned to WWE programming for the first time in almost two years. Although he expected a hero’s welcome, the Los Angeles crowd wanted nothing to do with him. While promoting his beer brand, Real American Beer’s partnership with WWE, the audience booed Hogan out of the arena.

Reports suggested that the company was not particularly happy about the segment. On what was supposed to be a historic night for the company, it was the 71-year-old who stole the headlines. Moreover, sources within WWE denied any possibility of Hulk Hogan being used as a TV character on its programming. While Punk didn’t receive heat for mentioning Hogan, one legend was confused about the whole ordeal.
Bully Ray provides his thoughts on CM Punk’s adlib on Hulk Hogan
CM Punk‘s promo on Raw received a lot of praise from fans on social media, especially for his jab at Hulk Hogan. However, wrestling legend Bully Ray failed to understand why Punk called the 71-year-old out ahead of the Royal Rumble.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Ray claimed that there was no valid reason for Punk to mention The Hulkster. According to him, the prospect of Hogan returning to the ring at the Royal Rumble would be huge.
Hogan would get a massive pop in the Rumble. I mean, I don’t know if he can do it physically, but I’m just like ‘Man, why even bring that up?’

Moreover, Punk throwing him out of the Royal Rumble would garner significant buzz in the wrestling fraternity. Considering Hogan’s health status, however, the WWE Hall of Famer said it was unlikely that Hogan would show up in the match. As such, he thought that Punk’s line on Raw was unnecessary.
