CM Punk is about to complete a year since his emphatic return to WWE at Survivor Series. While his second run has been hampered by injury so far, he looks to make a lasting impact now that he is cleared. In fact, Punk has promised a former World Champion that he will main event Madison Square Garden with him.

Speaking on 103.5 KISS FM, the Second City Saint revealed that Damian Priest could not main event MSG this year due to travel issues. It was an unfortunate sequence of events for the latter, as main eventing The Garden is considered holy in wrestling. At that time, Punk decided to make a promise to Priest, vowing to have a match with him at MSG next time.

He was supposed to main event The Garden in like a dark match and he had really bad flight trouble a couple months back, so he didn’t make it. So I owe him that. At least I think I told him that [laughs]. So the answer unfortunately is everybody.

Speaking on 103.5 KISSFM, Punk said that he plans to outshine Rollins. The 45-year-old said that things are going to be pretty wild in Chicago. Therefore, he also needs to bring his A-game as the referee for this battle.

I’m going to try and outdo goofy Seth Rollins with my referee outfit, I think. I have to. I think they want me to wear that headset that he had, the ref cam.
