The Bash in Berlin PLE will always be special for CM Punk, as he finally got his revenge and defeated Drew McIntyre. This marked his first singles victory since making his return at Survivor Series: WarGames last November. After his emphatic win, The Best in the World shared a heartfelt message on social media.
CM Punk took to X to express his gratitude for the love the Berlin crowd showed him during his match. He shared a picture of himself celebrating his win with fans, captioned, “Berlin, I love you.” As expected, the crowd fully supported the 45-year-old veteran and rooted for him throughout the match.
Speaking of their match, it’s safe to say that it was a hard-hitting affair, as both stars were more focused on destroying each other first rather than on winning. Punk and Drew McIntyre each came very close to touching all four corners and securing the win, but they continuously stopped each other. The Scottish Warrior even put his opponent through a table and used the strap to his full advantage.
In the final moments of the match, The Second City Saint finally put McIntyre away by hitting him with his finisher, the GTS, four times. Punk dragged his opponent to every corner of the ring, exacting revenge for his previous loss by reclaiming his precious bracelet and securing victory. In a post-match interview, the former World Champion stated that his rivalry with McIntyre was now over and that he would be shifting his focus to Gunther‘s title.
CM Punk talked about how he felt after taking his bracelet away from Drew McIntyre
After Punk defeated The Scottish Warrior in a strap match at Bash in Berlin, he was interviewed by Jackie Redmond. He shared that reclaiming his bracelet made the victory even sweeter, adding to the satisfaction of finally defeating McIntyre. The Second City Saint expressed that having it back in his possession felt great.
The former World Champion admitted that both stars made a big deal out of the bracelet. However, he stated that it was really about the disrespect McIntyre had shown towards his wife and dog and that he needed to teach him a lesson. Punk revealed that he was going to give AJ Lee and his dog Larry a big hug and a kiss.
It feels good, I think a big deal has been made out of this, but it was really about the disrespect to my dog and my wife. And I plan on going home and giving my dog and my wife a big hug and kiss, not in that order... probably in that order and move on to bigger and better things.CM Punk in an interview post Bash In Berlin
He also expressed his desire to continue pursuing bigger and better things, once again hinting at a run for Gunther’s world title. However, just because Punk felt that his rivalry with McIntyre was over and he wanted to move on, it doesn’t necessarily mean that McIntyre is done with him. The WWE Universe is eager to see McIntyre’s reaction to the loss on the upcoming episode of Raw.
