With SummerSlam less than a couple of weeks away, fans are hoping for CM Punk to receive the green light for in-ring competition. The Second City Saint will most likely be facing his archnemesis, Drew McIntyre, at the upcoming PLE. In light of the rumors, Punk was recently spotted vigorously training for his return to the squared circle.

The Foundation of Pro Wrestling School shared a clip on Instagram of the former WWE Champion’s training session. In the video, Punk can be seen delivering back-and-forth chops and elbows to a dummy. The Best in the World has been out of action since the Royal Rumble, where he tore his right tricep. Despite his injury, Punk has appeared on screen and continued his feud with McIntyre.

Last week, reports suggested that WWE is positive that the Voice of the Voiceless will receive medical clearance by SummerSlam. Moreover, the former AEW wrestler will be appearing on tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw, where fans expect him to deliver positive news. Speaking of his rivalry with Drew McIntyre, Punk has promised to ensure that The Scottish Warrior never wins another title in WWE.

As such, he has screwed the former 3MB member four times in his quest to win the World Heavyweight Championship. After the events that transpired at Money in the Bank, McIntyre’s post-show antics led to Adam Pearce suspending him. On last week’s Raw episode, the Ayr-born wrestler made matters worse after he refused to apologize for his actions.

Seth Rollins will play major role in rumored CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre match at SummerSlam

Amidst the heated rivalry between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins has suffered collateral damage from their actions. At Money in the Bank, Punk not only cost McIntyre but inadvertently screwed Rollins in the world title match as well. The following night on Raw, The Best in the World showed no remorse for his antics, while The Visionary promised to seek revenge.

In the aforementioned McIntyre-Pearce scuffle, Rollins ran out to make the save. Therefore, it seems that he has become a part of the ongoing feud. With that said, WrestleVotes revealed that plans are for The Architect to be the special guest referee in the rumored match between Punk and McIntyre.

As such, this ignited speculation online, with the WWE Universe comparing the bout with the Bret HartUndertaker match at SummerSlam 1997. Therefore, this has added more anticipation for the Biggest Party of the Summer.
