CM Punk and Colt Cabana have a long-standing personal and legal dispute that has gained significant attention in the world of professional wrestling. While their real-life issues have been due to their legal lawsuits against each other, a recent revelation suggests that it stemmed from Cabana’s dinner with former WWE champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that The Best in the World was upset with Cabana for attending a pizza party with Zayn and Owens. Meltzer suggested that Punk’s reaction to Cabana’s outing with the former Undisputed Tag Team Champions marked the onset of their disagreements.
While Meltzer did not specify the timeline of the pizza party, it may have occurred during CM Punk’s falling out with WWE. At the time, Punk felt betrayed when Cabana, still considered his friend, attended a dinner with WWE superstars. This perceived act of disloyalty seemingly deepened the rift between them.
Furthermore, the aforementioned disputes may explain why Punk and Zayn were hesitant to shake hands during the WarGames Match at Survivor Series. However, the two stars ultimately put their differences aside and fought together against The Bloodline. Additionally, Zayn played the role of peacemaker during the brawl between Punk and Seth Rollins on Raw this week.

CM Punk has received massive props for his change in behavior following his return last year at Survivor Series. While it has been discussed previously that Punk is supportive of the upcoming stars backstage, NXT Champion Trick Williams revealed how it feels to be around The Best in the World behind the scenes at WWE shows.

Speaking on No-Contest Wrestling, Williams heaped praise on CM Punk, describing him as a genuinely supportive individual. The 30-year-old star highlighted Punk’s dedication to mentoring rising talent, noting that the Chicago native takes pride in sharing his veteran experience to help shape the next generation of professional wrestlers.
I didn’t know what to expect when I met him, but all I’m gonna say is that dude, Punk, man, good dude, like, solid. You can just tell when some people are just genuine, and he’s very genuine.

Williams emphasized that Punk is also incredibly helpful when it comes to handling hate on social media.
