The long-awaited rumor has finally turned into reality as the Los Angeles Lakers have hired former NBA player JJ Redick as their head coach on a four-year deal. Redick’s former coach, Mike Krzyzewski also known as Coach K, shared his views in a recent interview with Fox Sports, expressing his support for his former player and wishing him all the best in this new role.

Krzyzewski claimed in the interview that the opinions of haters and naysayers make no difference to him and shouldn’t affect Redick either. He mentioned that they are more focused on being competitive internally rather than worrying about what others are saying, as it doesn’t matter to them.

To think any organization would hire a head coach for glamorous reasons is ridiculous. If we worry about what people say, we'd go nuts. We should only worry internally as competitors, and he's always only worried about himself. Look at the places he's gone as a result. I have no doubt this will be no different.

Redick began his career at Duke under the guidance of Krzyzewski, the renowned head coach who retired in 2022. The player then went on to have a 15-year NBA career. Recently, Redick has been associated with the Lakers since they started searching for a new coach in May and has now secured his new role.
